What do you get when over a thousand developers, tech leaders, AI builders, and open internet fans gather in Zurich for a full day of demos, panels, and vision talks? According to the DFINITY Foundation, you get a glimpse of the internet’s next big leap.
On June 3, DFINITY hosted the second World Computer Summit (WCS), a one-day event that packed in over 1,000 attendees, dozens of top speakers, and some seriously bold ideas about where the open internet is heading. And while the day was full of energy, one moment clearly stood out: the live debut of DFINITY’s new AI tool, Caffeine.
Not Just Another Tech Demo
Toward the end of the day, DFINITY founder and Chief Scientist Dominic Williams stepped on stage to show off something the team has been building behind the scenes — a tool that might just change how we build apps forever.
Called Caffeine, the platform is being described as the first “self-writing” app builder. Sounds wild, right? But the live demo made it feel very real. Using just natural language prompts — meaning, you literally talk to it — Caffeine can generate full apps end-to-end. No code. No complicated UI. Just tell it what you want, and it builds it.
“This is the start of Internet Computer 2.0,” Williams told the crowd. “A future where anyone can create online functionality just by talking.”
The live demo had the audience hooked, and the waitlist for alpha access went live moments later.
From Decentralized Cloud to AI-Driven Tools
The event wasn’t just about one tool. The broader message at WCS was clear: decentralized computing is growing up, and it’s being supercharged by on-chain AI.
Talks and panels throughout the day tackled everything from tamperproof infrastructure to digital sovereignty to building safer, smarter cloud environments — ones that don’t rely on a handful of tech giants. Speakers came from companies like Cisco, Animoca Brands, ETH Zurich, UNDP, BCG, and 21Shares, and while their backgrounds varied, their message was surprisingly aligned: decentralization and AI aren’t just cool ideas anymore. They’re fast becoming necessary.
A Day Full of Builders, Projects, and Pitch Sessions
One of the best parts of the summit was the spotlight it gave to the ICP builder community. An entire section of the event was dedicated to showcasing projects from across the Internet Computer ecosystem — from new DeFi ideas to experiments with real-world asset tokenization and AI-native tools.
Projects like KongSwap, Liquidium, PiggyCell, and Omnity Network got a chance to pitch and share their visions, while DFINITY’s own teams presented updates on key tools like Chain Fusion and OISY Wallet. There was something for everyone — whether you were an early-stage dev or a veteran team already shipping products.
Why It Mattered
If you stepped back and looked at the big picture, the vibe was unmistakable: we’re entering a new phase of internet building — one where decentralization, usability, and AI all play together. And DFINITY wants to be at the center of that.
With Caffeine, they’re not just launching another developer tool — they’re opening the door for millions of non-coders to finally participate in building the web. If the alpha demo was any indication, that future might be closer than we think.
Final Thought
The 2025 World Computer Summit was more than a conference. It was a milestone moment — the kind where tech shifts from “coming soon” to happening right now. And with Caffeine now in the wild, the race to build the self-writing internet is officially on.
